The menu highlights fresh and local products from hunting, gathering and fishing such as fish, game, forest mushrooms, spices, boreal infusions and wild fruits. The restaurant’s décor is also very elegant and elaborate, with traditional First Nations design elements combined with a modern aesthetic. The view of the Akiawenrahk River from the dining room adds to the relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. Chef Marc de Passorio is one of the most renowned chefs in international gastronomy. After working in various restaurants in France, Russia and New Zealand, Marc de Passorio settled in Quebec. Upon his arrival, Marc de Passorio wanted to learn more about Indigenous knowledge and visited several First Nations communities in Quebec while immersing himself in the customs and culinary traditions of the Huron-Wendat Nation, which welcomed him into its community. At the head of the restaurant La Traite, he pursues his passion and his role as mentor and trainer by favouring a natural cuisine inspired by the know-how and elements of the First Nations terroir while integrating First Nations youth into his brigade.
